Show Results 2012

Wessex Shetland pony Group Spring show, the first group show of 2012 was held at the Kingfisher Equestrian centre Nr Castle Cary on Sunday 25th March. Blessed again this year with sunny weather, it was good to see so many exhibits for our judges to cast their eyes over. Mrs M Ball of Surrey judged the miniature ponies whilst Mr N True of Carmarthen judged the standard ponies.

Our congratulations to all of the class winners and Championship winners – well done.

Summer Show - This year the summer show found itself at a different venue due to the Olympics and an imposed change of date for the pony club summer camp which also use the venue for an elongated period of time. We also had a new catering van which seemed to go down very well. We were fortunate to have good weather and plenty of ponies entered for all of the classes. It was good to see a lot of new members showing their ponies and some new faces in the ridden and young handler classes.

Our judges, Mrs Stevenson and Mrs Holt worked hard all day and finally chose their Supreme Champion to be the Blackmar family’s new edition, Carmaco Potblack, a new combination but one that brought great results. The Miniature Championship and Reserve Supreme went to Alan Davis’ Halstock Cassandra, another fairly new relationship, and the Standard Championship went to Boxleaze Champlers owned by Barry Gamblin.

Autumn Show held at the Kingston Maurward Equestrian centre near Dorchester was another success all thanks to our members and competitors..... and the weather wasn’t too bad either!
We had many, many entries so all of the classes had lots of ponies forward, especially the young handler and ridden classes. Well done and thank you to all of the parents and supporters of these classes it was very pleasing to see the younger members of the group enjoying themselves and putting so much hard work into their pony’s and the classes. Unfortunately there can only be one winner in the ring, but they are all winners with their achievements and pony management.

As the day drew to a close, the judges, Mrs M Matthews and Mrs J Webb chose the Overall miniature ring champion, Snelsmore Mandrake as their Supreme and the Overall standard ring champion Coppice Maggie May as their Reserve Supreme.
